Artist's Comments

I just got a new graphics tablet and I'm just getting used to it. This was a small exercise to give me better control. This is just a photomanipulation of one of the models knows. It's not really very good and I was debating as to if I should upload it to scraps or not. I called it "Well met, Ventrue" because there was something about the lighting and the suit that seemed to warrent it.

Dogs feel very strongly that they should always go with you in the car, in case the need should arise for them to bark violently at nothing, right in your ear

Well, there wasn't much I could really do with the image because they'd already changed all the colours to blue and such, so I figured I'd just draw all over it. Aye. Thanks :D

A-w-e-s-o-m-e. :P I kid you not, this looks like it was done on a scratchpad. You know what I mean, surely, the tablet completely covered with india ink which you scratch off to create the light areas and thus the art. There's a special consideration placed into your Ventrue's face, here, for its harsh yet humble white... a glow amidst a world of black and blue. You manage, with that, to add a quality that compliments your subject, a (yet hollow for its blur of features) small bit of enticing innocence to which the genre wishes to capture and captivate within its yet tenuous grasp. And there is yet a 'coldness' to the piece, for its chosen colors and (yes I say) icy lines. Your talk of ice can sure warm to an artist's eye, though yet (here's the part you'd here from a critic or art teacher) your focus is a small portion of the taken in scene- the face certainly has been given a bold form of unlife that does leap out at the viewer, yet there is little division between the rest of him and the background. Though I, in my fandom, could easily imagine a use of Auspex or even Gleam of the Red Eye, your average viewer will not distinguish whether the way the figure blends into the background is done purposefully or accidentally. Likewise that the eye is not drawn all the way around the page -for long-. It focuses back on the face- one thing I was told back when I was taking art classes (ugh, and I despised some of it too- but it did help in the long run) is that it's just fine to have excitement running off the edge of the scene. It does help imo to have added blue and black both respectively in the background, with bright blue for detail. The detail is evenly dispersed through the entire drawing, though- not literally, but overall as the effect. Yes, in one way it's balanced, and I like that- but in another you still haven't escaped your -style-. Yet LO! There -is- more -life- to this (or unlife, hah!) than in some of your previous works, and so I do say I believe it is a step in the correct direction. At long last, I inform you- it's going in my favorites list. Keep improving!

i like this sooooo blue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, looks awesome fishy, i like the face , how it is white and thus limits the expression, but still speaks volumes, kinda makes me think of a ghostly figure that lurks in the shadows a bit , i know you did this a while ago but it is very awesome :w00t:
